Jana, hair artist at Donato salon + spa, Yorkdale mall knows a thing or two about beautifying with SO.CAP. hair extensions.
Her client came to her wanting a fuller, more vibrant mane. She was unhappy with her fine hair, constant breakage and a hair not growing past shoulder length. She wanted LONG HAIR!
During the 15-minute consultation with the client, Jana inspected the state of her guest’s hair making sure it was not severely damaged or weak. “If there is a lot of damage or hair is weak, I would not recommend the application of hair extensions unless my client undergoes a series of repairing treatments to ensure hair gets strong enough to withstand the application of hair extensions”, says Jana. Colour matching also took place at the time of consultation to ensure “new” hair colour is identical to the client’s natural one.
Applying hair extensions is a fun process! It calls for a lot of patience and a good supply of snacks to go through while the hair strands are applied. It is actually more of a tell-me–all-about-your-life situation where the client and the hairstylist get to bond over the application of extensions! In all, the careful process took around 3 hours. Jana’s client required 10 bundles of SO.CAP. extensions which is quite standard for fine hair. Clients with coarser hair may require 12 – 14 bundles.
To prolong the life of SO.CAP. hair extensions, Jana recommends her clients to use professional sulphate and chloride-free shampoo and conditioner to protect the hair bond. Also, when styling the hair, clients should not use hot tools on the extension bond to avoid unnecessary wear. After three months of application, some clients prefer to buy a couple of bundles to replenish any possible hair extension loss that may have occurred due to natural wear.
In Jana’s words, “there is something magical about SO.CAP hair extensions and the transformation they bring. There is something definitely different about the way these ladies carry themselves out of the salon. It is a new attitude and a head full of new and bouncy hair!"
